About Flak Photo

Flak Magazine's evolution has been slow and incremental, but the direction toward breadth, accessability and diversity — and away from blog-like specialization — has been clear and distinct. Part of that evolution has been the growing presence of graphics, photos and illustrations within our pages.

Years ago, we started an in-house graphics department to create original art for our articles and special sections. In 2003, we launched the Flak Comics page, which has grown into a collection of nine-plus strips, some unique to the site. In 2004, we launched Flak Photo.

Like all sections of our site, Flak Photo is updated frequently, attentively edited and open to submissions from the general public. There are few hard guidelines for the photos we run, but we will ask our photographers to comment upon or reframe something familiar or introduce our viewers to a new subject, place or technique.

We hope the section will serve as a creative outlet and inspiration for photographers, and daily source of visual beauty and provacative images for our regular readers.

If you're a photographer, please consider sending us your best shots. If you're a fan of visual aesthetics, come back to Flak every weekday for a different photo.

Don't hesitate to get in touch with Andy or Abbey, our photo editors.

Best wishes,
